Two Foodies and Their Holland America Love Affair

When Acendas Travel Advisor Mollie Bechtold and her husband design their own vacations, cruising and cuisine often take top billing. Until recently, combining those two priorities could be a challenge.

Being particularly averse to buffet lines, Mollie and Brian often found themselves having to commit to the greater expense of cruising on a luxury line in order meet their culinary standards.

While there are some wonderful luxury cruise lines with exemplary gourmet dining experiences, a young couple such as themselves could find these cruises cost prohibitive.  Could the premium cruises of Holland America be the perfect solution?

Esteemed Dining Program

Mollie knew through her travel professional training that Holland America line was known for their esteemed dining program. She had sent many older clients on Holland America who had returned with mouth-watering memories of meals in The Pinnacle Grill and other onboard delights,  but she wondered whether the cruise line was a good fit for their millennial selves.

“We love cruising because of the opportunity to see and experience so many places during one vacation. We were really attracted to Holland America Line for several reasons, one of them being how ‘port-centric’ they are. Holland’s itineraries are really focused on getting into areas that most other cruise lines cannot reach. A great example of that is Glacier Bay in Alaska. Holland was the first cruise line to cruise there and is still only one of two lines allowed in this area. When we decided to take our nieces to Alaska, we knew Holland America Line was the way to go,” Mollie said.

It was through this Alaskan cruise and several Caribbean cruises that Mollie and Brian became true converts to the Holland America Line lifestyle.

“With many of my millennial clients and friends, Holland America is their new favorite cruise line. They are very service oriented and cleanliness is upmost of mind. Holland America’s high culinary standards really resonate with my foodie friends.”

Where is next on Mollie and Brian’s cruising calendar?

“Lately, we’ve been dreaming of one of Holland America’s Greece itineraries. They port in places that we really love, like Corfu, Santorini and Crete.”
